Farewell to Harringay and Parents Stanley

We're on our way!  We handed over the keys to our flat last weekend and moved down to a friend's house in Hackney Central to take up residence for a week before our flight.  We popped back to Harringay on Sunday to celebrate my Mum's Birthday with lunch and a few beers in the Salisbury which was lovely and reminded me of one thing I'm sure to miss - the good ol' British pub.  After a final visit to Rosie's Mum in Chelmsford, we both said our tearful goodbyes to all of the parents and returned to our temporary home in Hackney to count the hours until our flight.

Having chipped away at our belongings, we're now down to nothing but a suitcase and a rucksack each - with the suitcases both to be placed into the Walsh family storage facility tomorrow.  At less than 48 hours to blast off, we cannot help feeling that we've missed something...however, two highly organised individuals appear to have done all of the work well ahead of time - past Rosie & Simon... and how very organised they have been.

All we have to do is make the final check of our kit list and in 2 days time we will be above the clouds heading for Tokyo where we will meet up with our good friends Mai and Yukio and their little boy Kaoru.  It has been four years since we first met them over Japanese beers and edamame so we are very excited to see them again.  After four nights in Tokyo, we'll take the bullet train to Kyoto, spend 5 nights there then a single night in Osaka before a two night voyage across the sea to Shanghai where our one month tour of China shall begin.

Holiday haircut at last!
